El Nido is a Philippine municipality on Palawan island.
El Nido translates to “The Nest”, a name given for its large colonies of swiftlets whose solidified saliva nests draw high prices in East and Southeast Asia. El Nido is known for it’s white-sand beaches, coral reefs and is the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago, a group of islands with steep karst cliffs. Miniloc Island is famed for the clear waters of its Small and Big Lagoons. Nearby Shimizu Island has fish-filled waters and colorful reefs. The area has many dive sites, including Dilumacad Island’s long tunnel leading to an underwater cavern. The best way to explore El Nido is by boat with Big Horn Travel and Tours.
